Best Delid service? Do it myself? Worth it?

Hi,

I'm looking to get temps down and increase overclocking headroom.

So the two best ways to do so from what I've read is liquid cooling and delidding.

Running an i7-7700k Btw, currently with cryorig H7 but I'm gonna upgrade to liquid soon.

So here are my questions:

- Should I pay silicone lottery or some other service to delid it for me? Or should I do the delid myself?

- If I hire a delidding service, is there a chance that they send me back a broken chip? Or none at all?

- How much of a temperature difference does it really make?

- Is it worth the voided warranty?

what temperatures are you getting now at what clock speeds/voltage? OC'ed?

 

afaik, it does void your warranty.

Overclocked to 4.8GHz

Voltage: 1.225V

Max Temp Under stress: 75C

theres a delidder kit that u can get all u need to do is turn a screw and ur cpu is safely delidded :v

 

i wouldnt recommend any delid services really , just do it urself or dont do it :S

those temps are fine... that'll probably go down to like 68c if its on liquid. i see no point.

I would be more useful to get a custom loop then delid on an AIO. Also the extra 200mhz won't mean a thing

15-20*C for alot of chips :P (however only if ur cooler hasnt reached it max capacity )

Depends on how much it costs for a 3rd party service to do it, just get the delid-die mate if its more than 25$. You basically can't screw up.

You warrenty is defenitly gone, it basically can't be more gone than that lol
