In my experience laptop coolers don't make much difference anyway, other then making more noise. Just look at the specs of the cooler and see the max weight and see if the fans are in the right place for your laptop.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Best thing to do is open up a hardware monitor and note down all the hot sensors. Then open up your laptop, repaste the cpu and gpu and our thermal pads/fins on vrm chips if they’re getting hot. Also apply an under volt to the CPU.

My recommendation is not to buy a laptop cooler...they don't do much and are typically bulky and loud. I agree with @schwellmo92, re apply the paste. Somewhere on one of my older posts I have a guide which will help a lot, but I don't have that to hand at the moment. If you can't open it without voiding the warranty then don't.  Although laptop cooling soloutuions aren't always the best they are designed to do there job without any extra help. The only time I have ever bought a cooler was for a 1990''s Toshiba tecra when the fan died in 2012 and it was too costly to even buy a new one.

They all do the same thing equally well. Which is to say they make noise. The only thing that will help your laptop is keeping it on a smooth flat surface. Go to local shops and try a couple lap desks and coolers to find something comfortable.
