There is only so much you can do to improve performance...

A small ram upgrade would help just a hair.

But the biggest speed boost would just be a SSD upgrade.

RAM and SSD is about as far as it will go. You could try a 32 bit version of Windows 7 to lighten the load....core 2 duos really aren't up to lots.

The cpu is interchangeable but you won't get a more powerful mobile chip on that socket then a core 2 duo.  And there properly won't be support for another chip anyway

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Yeah, it's a core 2 duo laptop. Socket M chip. The CPU's available for this socket are not an upgrade.

Since you like cars... here's a good way to put it.

Right now it goes 40 miles per hour.

Changing the processor, you will go 41 miles per hour.

Upgrading to a SSD, you will go 55 miles per hour.

Adding more ram to it, you will go 57 miles per hour.

I understand what you are saying, but often times it's not that simple even. I would need at minimum pictures of both boards on the single core machines and core 2 dou's to confirm this without a doubt. Which, isn't that easy.

And, even if you could update a reasonable step, the cost is probably be prohibitive from buying it from a cost efficiency standpoint.  Oh, and the right thermal pads for replacement, unless this machine uses solder, then you'd be boned anyway.

Design choices of 2008 man...

Spoiler

Strangely this model contains a SIM card slot underneath the battery compartment. However reading data, or using Internet from SIM cards is not possible without a separate wireless modem-card.

that could be possible because your motherboard has a pga cpu
