If you are willing to oc, this build would fit the budget and provide decent performance. If you don't want to oc, get the R5-1600X and CRYORIG - H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler.

I'm assuming they already have a case because one wasn't included in the list. Otherwise, looks good to me.

If he plans on streaming I would go with either a 8700k (If you can find it) or a Ryzen 7 or 6 for more cores.

Hmm.. I referred to this video about this. Doesn't seem like the 7700K is too far behind..

You could put a ryzen 5,7 instead of intel.

AMD just runs hot & I like how Intel & GTX just, work. I prefer intel & he does too.

So in gaming hands down Intel still edges out Ryzen. But with Ryzen he will have better minimum's and again he can get a R7 with 2 more cores and 4 more threads for little bit cheaper. Also remember that with Kabylake he has no upgrade path. He will have to completely change chipsets if he wants to go to Coffeelake or higher. If he buys with Ryzen he can swap out the next two generations of chips as the AM4 platform is supported through 2020.

I would rather agree on what we share, than fight on what we don't. - Myself

What kind of bs are you saying?

1) AMD runs significantly cooler than Intel

2) graphics card is not dependent on CPU maker lol

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM

AMD has been notorious for running hot. - https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/435570-do-amd-products-run-hotter-than-intel/ // AMD puts out more heat, Intel runs hotter. You put and AMD system & intel in the same room, the room the AMD is in, will be hotter.

Yes, I know that GPU is not CPU dependent. But, they do seem to work better together, no?

With this he should be fine for 2 years, I think. At that point I'd get new hardware anyway. I see your point, though. We just wanna stick to Intel. I've personally only had problems with AMD, I don't want him to worry about them, considering we don't live close to eachother.

Are you even legit?

That thread is from year 2015. Zen was starting to appear on the drawing boards of AMD R&D.

Current AMD architecture is nearly 2x more efficient than current Intel arch.

Throw out all that old knowledge, intel cpus are freaking insane hot, amd cpus are the cool cats these days. And no amd has worked with nvidia to ensure everything works as perfectly as possible

the 7700k is crap for streaming, unless the goal is to deliver 10% of frames. the ryzen 1600 should be able to deliver 100% of frames cpu encoding on the faster setting, maybe even on a slower more prettifying setting, the 8700k is somewhere around the same point, the r7 1700 can definitely do fast without an issue.

I've got some experience with zen and intel (6700K, i7 860).  I'll say this - my 1700 is insanely efficient compared to my old 6700K.  It's got double the cores while taking less power!  I will say that FX CPU's ran hot absolutely and no one should buy FX CPU's.  I will say that the two builds there are pretty solid, the 8700 is IMO the current king of value high end gaming (and when H310 mobos come out it'll be even better)

I am giving you pure facts.

AMD managed extreme efficiency with comparable performance.

Ofc Intel has some percent (10-15 i think) higher single thread performance and better clocks, but at cost of uncoolable CPU (7700K and 8700K) and higher power consumption (you shouldnt worry about unless youre getting Z370 mobo for $120).
