Assuming that you already have a HDD for mass storage, you can get a crucial MX300 275GB sata SSD which will improve windows boot times and game loading times as well. A normal sata SSD is enough for general purpose use whether its game loading times or windows booting, its enough for your needs, if your transfering large amounts of data, then NVMe is good for this in terms of read and write speeds. Whatever brand you choose to go with for an SSD, the performance will be identical across the board in terms of overall performance.

In terms of the brand of SSD, I'd recommend samsung, like an 850 evo, 250GB SSD, or in your use case, since you have a good budget to spend, 500GB, if you can get it for the right price.

Thanks for the reply! Can you tell which one is best overall performance 850 Evo 250 GB, Crucial MX300 275GB & 850 pro 256 GB?

As I mentioned, performance with sata SSDs, regardless of the brand, perform identically across the board in terms of performance. I'd recommend the samsung 850evo 256GB SSD, they are good value for money and are quite reliable. Fair enough if you want the extra storage, then go with MX300, but 256GB seems enough for your use case.

Yes, the performance increase with an SSD is noticeable when it comes to these tasks.

Most popular would be samsung evo 850 ... I'm using it for few years now and never had any problems with it.

It can survive 75TB written data on it (250gb model), so that should be plenty even for (ab)users.

You can also cehck here to see performance between SSDs: http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-850-Pro-256GB-vs-Group-/2385vs10

You wont see a performance difference between the two and it isnt noticable from an everyday use stand point. The only difference between the two is the storage capacity, 250GB vs 256GB, unless you want the extra 6GB, then by all means get it, from a performance perspective, there isnt any difference when it comes to the storgage capacit that will affect performance of the SSD.

Samsung 960, but that one is M.2 and not sata.
