+120Hz Screen paired with 1060 6GB

Hi people,

Would it be logical to pair 144 Hz screen with GTX 1060 6gb while I wont be getting 144+ FPS for the most games (witcher and other demanding ones as examples)

Second, should I choose IPS over TN?

thanks

I personally have the VG248QE, but its older at this point and you can get better monitors for less

There are no 1080p 144hz ips panels sadly.

This comes with Free Synch - Should I pair it with AMD GPU?

Pairing a free sync monitor with a Nvidia GPU isnt a bad thing. You just wont be able to take advantage of the technology. And right now 580's are still more expensive than the 1060's (though prices are starting to come down) but if you're able to find a 580 (8gb) around a similar price to the 1060 (6gb) then it's technically a free upgrade! (stay away from any MSI armor editions though)

RX 580 8GB is a bit cheaper in Turkey in fact: Take this as an example, is it actually better than 1060 6GB?: https://urun.n11.com/ekran-karti/asus-rog-strix-rx580-o8g-gaming-gddr5-256b-hdmi-dv-P209952549?cid=604001&gclid=CjwKCAjwpfzOBRA5EiwAU0ccN1wgZ2FnKKiIZtlqCRPZyrYndp2JFdrUK_j9jj_YREH85_G-TUeiWRoCP_MQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I have an understanding that 144Hz makes a difference over 144 FPS which may also be a misconception. Someone to approve or rebut?

A RX580 is as good, and in some cases better than a 1060 6gb. If it's actually cheaper, get it for sure!!

Not really. It might mean less screen tearing over a 60hz because the % difference between the frames show and the frames rendered would be much higher on a 60hz panel than a 144hz, but otherwise no

So can ı say that when I use v-synch in the absence of g-synch and lock the fps to 60fps to get rid of screen tearing I will basically have no use of surplus refresh rates?

Pretty much! I wouldnt use v-sync though, it causes input lag which for most people is more annoying than screen tearing
