Nothing wants to work after new motherboard

Hello,

I have recently decided to upgrade my pc it had some type of asus ATX motherboard, and a i5-10400F in it. I bought myself a new motherboard and CPU, a Aorus A520 elite and also a Ryzen 5 5600x as i have a tight budget. I have tried installing the bios with the version of F19 to support 5th gen CPU but to no avail it didn't work. (I had no components inside of the motherboard whilst updating) It was flashing red then went off to signify that it finished updating which then i installed the CPU ram GPU and SSD to see if it would post, but no it didn't all it did was turn on and did nothing and displayed nothing (CPU fans would spin) I thought it was a power supply issue as it was an old 350W from my current pc. So i bought a 500w psu from corsair and tested it on the motherboard, it still didn't work. Then i tested if it was a graphics card error (my GPU is a 1650 with no psu power supply needed) so i took my dads 3050 from his prebuilt to see if it would display anything on my display when plugged into my system. It didn't. So then i thought it was a motherboard error, i moved my 1650 to my old motherboard but it still didn't work. Now im stuck here with no idea what to do.

Sounds like you did not flash the bios properly, if you can flash it again, do so.

Try to hold on to it longer. Make it stay for a while, make sure the drive is formatted as said in the manufacturer's guide and some motherboards require you to have a certain name applied to the drive.

ive held down on it for about 10 seconds each time i even took out the CMOS battery and left it out for 2 hours to see if that would work and then i flashed bios again with fat32 and the file name of GIGABYTE.BIN and followed to tutorial on the gigabyte website by pressing the q-flash button once and ive also made sure it is in the correct USB port via the instruction manual. Also Ive just managed to get my old pc to boot up again by leaving out the CMOS battery for a few hours. Im leading myself to the conclusion of a faulty motherboard or faulty cpu as those can be replaced

Might be that the motherboard is faulty. If you can return it, do so.

Leave the motherboard on for at least a minute or two.... it may take more than this for the new bios to initialize.

Make sure the 24 pin cable AND the cpu power cable is plugged in when you try to start the board. You only need a stick of ram (put the stick in the slot furthest away from cpu socket) and the gpu to see if stuff works... make sure you plug the monitor cable in the gpu not the motherboard video connectors (those don't work because 5600x has no integrated graphics)

edit: there's 3 revisions of the motherboard, look in the corner of the circuit board to figure out your revision and select the right revision on the gigabyte website then download the latest stable bios

The board supports Q-Flash Plus Update BIOS  where you can update bios without cpu, ram and gpu installed ... just make sure the usb stick is formatted as instructed the bios file is named as instructed and the stick is plugged in the right usb port.

If your stick is formatted with fat32 you may have to rename the bios file to be 8.3 format , ex bios.bin or gigabyte.bin or something like that.

from a z690 mobo manual about q-flash plus update (see page 6 : https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_z690-features_n.pdf):

- 6 -
1-3 Using Q-Flash Plus
A. Before You Begin
1. From GIGABYTE's website, download the latest compressed BIOS update file that matches your motherboard model.
2. Uncompress the downloaded BIOS file, save it to your USB flash drive, and rename it to GIGABYTE.bin.
(Note: The USB flash drive must use the FAT32 file system.)
3. Connect the power cables to the 12V power connector (connect either one if there are two) and main power connector.
4. Please turn on the power supply before connecting the USB flash drive to the Q-Flash Plus port on the
back panel.
B. Using Q-Flash Plus
Press the Q-Flash Plus button and the system will automatically search and match the BIOS file in the USB flash drive on the Q-Flash Plus port. The QFLED and the Q-Flash Plus button on the rear panel will flash during the BIOS matching and flashing process. Wait for 6-8 minutes and the LEDs will stop flashing when the BIOS flashing is complete.

edit 2  silly me it's also down on the main details page, just have to scroll down a bit

why did you flash the bios without making sure all components work first, i don't understand??

i didn't even do that when i bought my 5800x3D which wasn't compatible with my mobo bios - it still worked lol...

well follow the instructions above, otherwise the mobo cpu ram etc might be faulty or incompatible.

is the ram on the mobo qvl?

The direction tells you... the direction

I put together the system together first without flashing bios since i didn't realize that the motherboard comes with 3rd gen support for Ryzen chips. All my components worked apart from the motherboard and CPU which i had no way of telling if they were faulty or not. In my previous system all the components worked fine GPU, RAM etc

Thank you,

Ive got the 1.2 revision of the motherboard and ive tried flashing it with the F19 version but it still didnt work. Im trying to see if doing it with older versions of the bios (f15) will work.                                       image.png.93b459c938452fbda2ab29da637c7548.png
