No, that's a really solid build.  Intel has finally gotten on-board with mainstream hexa-core CPU's, but developers won't be abandoning quad cores any time soon.

So this is my current parts list. I've been thinking about upgrading my PC to get better performance (obviously). I was wondering if you guys think I should do so as well? If so, what should I upgrade to and why?

8600K and a 1080ti for good 4k performance

No need to upgrade. Only if your job involves a lot of rendering for money then i would upgrade to ryzen threadripper.

8600k is wasted money for 4k. Not to mention that it is not available to buy pretty much anywhere.

1080ti... sure, but depends a lot on how demanding games he plays or if he really cares about running everything on Ultra in which case even 1080ti will struggle.

For gaming there's not a single reason to change anything there.

That CPU is 4 generations behind. At least get a 7th or 6th gen. What games are you trying to play and want more performance in?

The OP wants more performance. He has a 4k monitor

I mainly play Arma 3 and would definitely like more frames in it. I was thinking about streaming a little bit so I figured more power might help with that too.

Streaming could do with a bit more horse power. What is your upgrade budget?

I don't have one. I figured I'd just save up for whatever I need but I don't want to do anything ridiculous where it would just make more sense for me to buy a whole pc.

How much are you comfortable with spending?

Probably somewhere around $600, I think that's suitable for a decent upgrade. I'm also fine with going with AMD as long as I get more performance. I understand that I'll have to upgrade my CPU, RAM, and motherboard. If I can keep my AIO that's even better but I'm fine with going with another one as well. All my old parts will end up going into another PC which I might even use to help with streaming or maybe use it for a game server.

Arma is one of those games that is never going to perform well. A GPU upgrade won't help, and a highly clocked 7700k or 8th gen chip might get you some more fps, but it's still not going to play well.

You're better off keeping what you have and not wasting money on a negligible performance gain.

Get a R7 1700 (250-300$),16 GB DDR4 (around 100-200$),B350 Motherboard (50$-100) and carry over your 1070,the drives (i wouldn't recommend that Hitachi one, carry if u need/want to).About the liquid cooler, idk if it will be compatible or not,if it is you will have to buy seperate AM4 brackets, the AMD Stock cooler that comes with the 1700 is quite nice and excellent, but not as good as your liquid cooler, that extra money (if you save on a b350 board) is saved for u to do a party xd.

600$ u can get a i7 8700k (300ish) and a Z370 mobo (130$+) and around 16 GB Ram (around 100-200$,idk how it will fit in 600$),which gives u more cores,if you want more cores, get AMD Ryzen 7.AM4 has 4 yrs of support,Intel can stop support anytime, like how 200 series motherboards met to a dead end after 7th generation CPU's,that plaform is only 10 months old, intel can do the same with Z370 anytime they want.U can go for a 7700k,you've met a dead end for upgrading on the same mobo....you will have to buy a new mobo to upgrade after that (and if you upgrade in 2020 or later, new ram too) For AM4,AMD will make new CPU's for it untill DDR5 comes out.

I also have a 4K monitor, with a RX580. The 1070 is faster, there again I don't see a reason to upgrade now.

he's a gamer...he play ARMA 3...the R7 1700 would be a downgrade for him.
