Ryzen 5 1600 vs i5 8600k for video rendering

Which cpu is better for rendering videos in programs such as adobe premiere and sony vegas and is it worth the slightly higher price premium for coffee lake if its better than ryzen?

CPU: Intel I5 4690K | GPU: Asus R9 280x | PSU: Evga 600w | RAM:8GB DDR3 | HDD: WD 1TB | HDD: WD 500GB | SSD: Sandisk 120GB

Equal. 1600 has more threads but 8600k can overclock further (with a good cooler. Air or liquid is not the only factor), so which one is faster in apps that use all threads available depends on 8600k's overclock. Also 8600k does much better in apps that use 1 or 2 cores. It all depends on the scenario.

SuperPi (v1.5 from Techpowerup, PI value output) 16K: 0.100s 1M: 8.255s 32M: 7m 45.93s

i would be pairing the 8600k  with a 212 evo so dont know if that would be enough to compete with the 1600 and the mobo would be the asrock z370 pro4 which is one of the cheaper options as due to the 8600k being more expensive i wont have the money to get a better motherboard

I wouldn't pair coffee lake with a 212 evo.

 

a 1600 with Wraith Spire will do a solid OC and be better value IMO.

They perform the same but ryzen  is cheaper and comes with a cooler. Go ryzen.

Ryzen 5 come with a stock cooler so platform cost is cheaper.
and u spend more money for mobo,Storage,etc,
so go with Ryzen.
