how often do your rebuild you machine?

i've recently finished my gaming pc and im wondering when i should do i complete rebuild. or how often do i get a new case?

To make it easier on you, I'll list the general life cycle of parts when you should replace them

 

Gpu -> 2 Cycles (6 months per cycle)

Ram -> Every cycle (one cycle is LONG like 5 years)

Case -> Whenever you feel the need honestly.

PSU -> 5 years

CPU -> 3 Cycles (tick tock tick tock, I'd replace it every tock, look up intel to know about this)

Mobo -> Whenever a new type of ram comes out, or a new socket type. (2-3 years)

Cooling -> When it stops working lol

HDD -> When it fails (make sure to back up after 2 years if you have important data)

SDD -> completely depends on how many reads/writes it can do to how many you make it do. (Probably 2 years for avg, 3-5 for high quality)

Fans -> When they fail (or with case)

Thermal Compound -> when you notice your cpu is overheating but your cooling is working and your cpu isnt underload

 

tldr; small upgrades 6 months - 2 years, completely new build every 5-7 years.

I've have this rig since summer 2011 and I'm planning a completely new rig in fall of 2014. So on my end 3 years if you have a mid range (which was 2500k/560ti in that generation) and a bit longer the higher up the GPU chain you go.

Lol, I have that exact configuration! Although I have made some improvements since March 2012

Currently, I am in the process of getting a 290 when aftermarket hits.
