i7 Cooler?

What's the best cooler for i7 7700K?

I am an AMD fan but my friend ask me about this and I really have no idea.

watch the Linus video from last week about Air vs. AIO, they go over options using i7s.

Basically, a Noctua is about as good as a 240mm AIO I think was the conclusion

A good one is a Hyper 212 EVO If your on a budget. But I would get a Dark rock pro 3.

Your cpu has a 125W TDP, compared to the 91 TDP of the i7-7700K.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Yes, but wouldn't a hyper 212x or turbo led manage a slight overclock on the 7700k, so it might just be good

Nope, not good. The more expensive 212s are just even more of a waste. There are several coolers that are newer, quieter, cheaper, easier to install, and perform better than a 212 EVO.

I have seen an i7 7700k run on a hyper 212 evo at 4.7 or 5ghz (bitwit's video) but the temps do break through the roof, if someone is on a budget and don't plan to overclock much the hyper 212 evo would serve good, and the 212x and turbo led, would decrease the temperature from 3C to even 6-8C...

But yes, this is true. But the reality is many of the coolers like cryorig aren't available in many regions...

Nope, there are still better choices. The 212 EVO just does not make any sense whatsoever.

Good thing there are plenty of other options then. I've yet to see a country where the 212 EVO makes sense at the price it's selling for.

Yeah but that just increases the cost of an already poor cooler? That doesn't make it any more compelling. Now it's a $45 cooler competing with the likes of Cryorig H5, Dark Rock 3, etc. That's a 5+ year old cooler that was low end even then trying to compete with more modern high(ish) end coolers.

I don't think that is an easily answered question. It's a new chip, not enough units have been tested to gather enough meaningful data.
