Encoding to a target file with a new codecs

Hi,

I've been in the process of encoding my media to HVEC/h265 and decided to go with a bitrate of 12000mbps for local streaming but have in counted a source file which has the same bitrate. I know about the encoding rule of thumb not to go higher then the original source but its the same bitrate.

The original file is about 16.7gb with the old VC1 codec which requires trans coding due to the codec is not supported on my device.

Because so far I made a good start at keeping a decent quality for my movie library and file size for streaming.

Any thoughts on this would be great.

So you are using HVEC but totally destroying the efficiency by using constant bitrate?

Why not using AVC with x264's crf?
