Which AM4 bracket do I need?

ShaunOfNintendo

For my new system I'm going to be re-using my current Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.

The site lists is as being compatible with AM4 but says that a separate AM4 Bracket is required.

I looked up on CoolerMaster's website and they have like 5 different AM4 brackets, one of which is the one that comes with the 212 which is even more confusing...

http://www.cmstore.eu/cooling/amd-am4-upgrade-kit-air1-rr-accy-am4b-r1/

I'm trying to figure out if I even need to buy a separate bracket, and if so, which one?

Thanks for your time!

EDIT: Not sure why that extra quoted post is there btw...

id give CM a call or email... give them the model # of your cooler off the box and they can arrange the correct am4 bracket to be shipped to you

You might be able to get the bracket for free, if you provide them with an invoice for the ryzen CPU and your receipt/invoice for the 212 IIRC.

That one is also compatible, and looks the correct one to me to use the backplate on the AM4.

Can I ask though why you are getting this? if you buy any non-x ryzen CPU, 1600/1700 for example then you get a pretty decent cooler with that CPU, so you might not need that bracket anyway.

So I'm guessing that would mean that the backplate that comes with the 212 EVO will line up with the bracket holes?

I've already purchased the 1600x, I didn't notice this problem until it was too late (my bad really).

For the first one I don't know, I was talking about the bracket that would come with the AM4 cooler, like wraith.

Ahh, too bad... yeah you'll have to get that adaptor then I think.

Does CM also want an invoice for the CPU? When I got my AM4 bracket from Phanteks a while ago, they were only interested in seeing the invoice for the actual cooler, and I've heard the same about other manufacturers. Not sure why CM would insist on having the invoice for the CPU as well...

Might not want that, I'm not sure. When I got a bracket sent from Noctua they wanted both the AM4 motherboard or CPU invoice and also the invoice for the cooler... I think it was the same with Cryorig too for their free bracket.

That's odd; I'd heard Noctua only needed an invoice for the cooler. Maybe they weren't terribly consistent...
