I am planning to get this displayport

however reading about different versions, 1.4 is the latest. The one above is 1.2? Would there be a problem using a 32" 4k monitor? or a gaming monitor with 144-165Hz?

Cables just carry a single. A decent quality DP cable made 7 years ago should work just fine on any DisplayPort plug regardless of version.

I was referring to this. I just cant find cables that indicates it is 1.4 ver.

Because cables themselves dont need to. Its only dependent on the display output and input.

The cable only carries a signal. It's a passive pipe. DP version only matters at device ends.

Unless a DP cable specifically states that it is an RBR (Reduced Bit Rate) cable, it will support all current DP versions. DP1.2, 1.3, 1.4 etc. are all controller and efficiency revisions, not cable revisions. As such there is no such thing as a DP1.2 or 1.4 cable, there's just RBR and normal DP cables.

All certified cables should support full bandwidth of all versions; many DP cables are not certified by VESA though and will fail at higher bandwidths.

Seems ok, although for a 10 ft cable it's a bit cheaper than I'd expect, so not sure what to make of that.

I wouldn't gimp on the cable quality if I were you...

That being said at the current markets;

wide screen 1440p at 165hz highest as of now

ultrawide screen 1440p at 100hz highest as of now

4k at 60hz... as of now

a 1.2 should suffice w/o much issue. so i wouldnt be too fussed on which version you're getting.
