You're gonna run into a lot of headaches running Vista today. You're almost better off giving Ubuntu or Linux Mint a go.

Vista isn't gonna play friendly with any games newer than around 2012-2013.

My current fleet!
Zerua - Workstation - i7-6700k, 32gb DDR4, GTX1070 | Azalera - Surface Pro 4 - i7-6650U, 16gb | Sarea - FreeNAS Server - E5-2407 1.2TB RAIDZ2

That was from when they were offering the free upgrade. And even then it was only free from 7, 8, and 8.1.

No.

You can use windows 10 for free by just not activating it.

If you did the "free upgrade" you got the full version with a key, if you install it without activating it you can still use the OS.

Ahh. I mean you can do that with any of their currently supported OSs, it's just that after a few months it will start bugging you for not registering and will lock down parts of the OS and after a bit will stop allowing updates.

Windows 10 does not "bug" you or stop updates, you just get a watermark at the bottom right of your screen and you can't change the personalization settings.

Both of these things have easy workarounds, which you need to google because we're not allowed to talk about it on this forum.
