Whenever I start up a game the computer restarts itself. It started about a week ago when I tried playing PUBG, and I thought it was just PUBG because it is an early access game, so I dismissed it. Then when I tried playing CSGO today, it happened again. I'm guessing it might be a temp problem so I'm gonna try and clean my computer tomorrow, but I just wanted to see if anybody has any other advice.

If cleaning it doesn't work, try reinstalling Windows.

I'd also replace the thermal paste.

What are load temps on the CPU and GPU (and do the CPU/GPU crash when put under load)

(you can use a program like HWmonitor to see this)

is there any message on startup after a crash

Sounds like a overheating issue PC do that when the temperature gets to high as a safety feature, open up the machine and clean out the gunk  inside your machine with compressed air and see if that works, can also be caused by outdated graphics drivers, and in one rare cas it was a BIOS update that needed to be done

it could also be that the airflow in your case isn't good enough. so even if everything is clean, it might just not get enough fresh air.

I have a new CPU cooler on the way, and I will replace the thermal paste when I install that. But if that doesn't work, how would I go about reinstalling windows? Would I have to clear my SSD, buy a new Windows key, and install it?

I have 3 cases fans all in my fractal design 3500. I don't think it's the case airflow, but thank you for your input. :)

that depends how they are positioned. if they are all intakes for example, temps will be awful.
