I am planning on building a gaming rig with coffee lake, specifically for playing project cars 2 on Oculus, and when I looked up benchmarks, the difference between an i5 and i7, and the difference between a 1080 and a 1080ti were both about the same. I can’t afford both an i7 and a 1080ti, so should I get an i5 8600k and a 1080ti, or an i7 8700k and a 1080? Thanks in advance for the help.

edit: I am not that interested in ryzen. I would already have one if I was.

i play project Cars 2 on uculus rift right now and yeah it's not very CPU intensive but GPU wise you do need to put the best you can...i can play medium/highish settings with 1.3X supersampling and it looks quite good...90FPS...but  1080ti could do 1.4X SS and high settings.

i would get a Ryzen R5 1600 personally

BTW it's really amazing...project cars 2 in VR is superb...get yourself a nice little wheel and you'll have so much fun...it's insane.
