I didn't quite get that so sorry if i am asking something silly.

I will buy a x299 motherboard with LGA2066 socket. I will be able in the future to update my 7th gen CPU to 8th gen?

Intel will produce Coffe Lakes that will fit on 2066 socket or it will make a new socket?

And how chipset take place on all of that. X299 mobos will have X299 chipset. Coffe lakes will be produce for this chipset? or the new Z370 one?

Thanks for your time.

Sorry again for my questions

Coffee Lake will be LGA 1151 (like Z370, but supposedly it's not compatible with Z270..), judging by the past: Coffee Lake-E (or X now?) might be for the 2066 socket, but nothing is really known about that unconfirmed/speculated platform.

intel woud not make the same CPU available on two different sockets and motherboards

Coffee lake is already confirmed to work with Z370 chipset which will be a new mobo

um...have you seen the kaby lake x processors? basically an I5 7600 and I7 7700 just with a lga 2066 adapter.

Edit: not meant to be derogatory, more a polite questioning tone :)

yes it is basically the same

but not physically the same - i meant specifically the coffee lake cpu will be on the smaller 1151 socket

i havent read anywhere of rumors of "Coffee Lake X" so if you have information on that rumor - that would be quite informative!
