What set up is more recommended for AAA gaming? A single GTX 1080 Ti or two GTX 1080 in SLI?

If you play games with SLI support, SLI 1080. If you play games that don't have SLI support, 1080Ti.

GTX 1080TI since SLI is no longer a widely supported standard.

Single 1080ti. Always ALWAYS ALWAYS single fastest card over dual. SLI support is not guaranteed to work and doesn't scale 100% perfect like it does in benchmarks.

i pick a 1080ti any day of the week.

A single gtx 1080ti will be more power effecient and its definitely cheaper than two in SLI config. SLI with two 1080ti's doesnt 100% scale properly in games and benchmarks.

As someone coming from a 2x 1080 setup, I can confirm the Ti beat the pants off of the 2x 1080 setup in power consumption and performance in most titles. I since have 2x Tis, but I don't recommend that if all you're doing is gaming.
