I hope you guys know there is a maximum limit lmao.

But the idea of flying with a humongous 50LB case would be interesting.

heh it would be interesting until the package gripping mechanism on the drone fails and you have a 900D shaped bomb dropping through your roof.

edited to add that there is a book company in Australia apparently doing drone deliveries already, I'm not Australian so could be wrong but that's pretty cool found link www.engadget.com/2013/10/15/australia-drone-delivery-flirtey/

People don't shoot trucks because there are people in them. Drones are just drones, I know if they flew over my dads house they might get mistaken as a bird.

I wonder what the noise pollution would be like as well as the weather protection.

The only reason people don't shoot when they see a truck driving by is because people are in them? Oh and your dad just shoot birds flying over your house for no reason? Wow... American is even more messed up than I thought if that's true.

Sigh... I am getting tired of ~15 years old who think they are smarter than a multi-million dollar team of researches who has and will spend several years developing this. Anything you can think of, they've already thought of several times and are working on solutions, or have already developed solutions for. I can almost guarantee that.

I'm English and 26 with 2 kids mate, my dad shoots birds as he has to for pest control, has to get a license and everything.

But they won't be coming if the FAA don't change a few regulations anyway.

EDIT: and no its not the only reason people don't shoot at trucks but didn't think I'd need to reel off a list.

I'm not against the drones I was just try to point out the most obvious reason

Alright, Here's the low-down.

First of all, Amazon is not a profitable company. They loose money each quarter. yeah they have a huge market share and stock is like 380 something a share now for amazon at this time? they still loose money.

Now the CEO outs this drone thing out of the blue? What DO YOU REALLY THINK is going on here?

if you said for marketshare and stock value to go uphill, you are definitly right.

Next is LIABILITY

There are SO many things wrong with ACTUALLY implementing these drones.

It was said that these drones are going to have a 5-10 mile radius so they are implying that these drones are only going to be available in rural/densely populated areas. And with all things Mechanical, things WILL fail. I don't care if its 1/1000 or 1 in a million, one of these suckers are going to fall out of the sky for one reason or another and since its in a rural area, its most likely going to cause some serious damage. It may hit someone on the head with its 5lb package. And if it doesnt hit someone, what if it hits a moving car who then swerves into another and kills someone.

Amazon cannot take this kind of liability into its own hands. no company would.

Not to mention the Scale here. we arent talking about a hundred of these things, or two hundred. we are talking thousands of these things flying around in order to make this actually work like they say they want to. lets face it, it's going to happen.

Now, this would be a good idea for implementing in like lets say a 3rd world country where the probability of it falling out of the sky its going to land in the water or a field.

Even better, refrigerated goods like water and vaccines can be delivered to these areas that need it the most. since the concern for these commodities are of higher value than the liability of a drone falling and hitting someone. And since these run on batteries, shipments can be cheap and make a company like Amazon a lot of money at, lets say $5 shipping.

TL:DR Drones are an idea that is in place to save Amazon stocks and is nowhere near full implementation due to liability concerns.
