Comparison websites show the same display size, screen-body ratio, pixel density, RAM, front/back camera megapixel count, battery life and wifi speed.

 

...Really?

 

The only large difference is the A11 processor.  Apple also reports Bluetooth 5, a glass back for wireless charging, 25% louder speakers, and claims somewhat better colors on the camera/display.   It's like Apple wanted to make a 7s except for the fact that it would've been more of a stretch to jump to 10 (X).

Well people will buy it for some reason, all I really have to say is that it still won't be as good as my Xperia XZ Premium

Apple should just release the same phone next year and price it at 5k people would still buy it

Ehh, I'd probably suggest looking toward either the 6S if budget matters at all, or just go all in on the iPhone X.

Remember, no one's forcing you to buy an iPhone 8.

True, this is more of an incremental upgrade but if you would find the latest and greatest better, you would likely be satisfied with it.

This is one of the lowest forms of argument.  Of course no one is forcing me to do it.  Anything of disappointing quality can be justified on this basis.

Again, if you aren't interested in it, there are many, many, many other options for you, even in the Apple realm.

 

I personally would like an iPhone SE but I would never be opposed to owning an iPhone 8.
