GamerMaker

gpu* not cpu,

gtx 1080ti in possibly SLI with a x370 motherboard.

seriously though, buy the BEST GPU you can afford. better to buy a good GPU and pair it with a temporary 'bad' CPU than to buy a midranged GPU to pair with the temporary 'bad' CPU. at least when you carry the GPU over to a new system / upgrade the CPU, you get better performance.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

I'm assuming you're asking for the most sensible GPU to pair with a Ryzen 3 1200? That would probably be the 1050 Ti. If you're asking for the best GPU, that would probably be the Quadro P6000

:)

But wouldn't the 1080 ti be bottle necked to hell by the Ryzen 3?

So Ryzen 3 won't bottleneck anything up to a 1060 or 580. Anything after that and you get greatly diminishing returns. NexusGamer did a great article on it.

I would rather agree on what we share, than fight on what we don't. - Myself

not to hell , but by some extent

better GPU with bad CPU >>>>>>>>> midranged GPU with bad CPU, because:

He's right. Your budget will pretty much dictate what GPU you can get. Its also a matter of whats reasonable and IMHO it would be a GTX 1050/Ti or RX 460/560 or 470/570

I'd go for a 1070 or 1060/480, but you might be able to use a 1080.

Not necessarily. Depends on the use but most games are still bottlenecked by GPU, even on older CPUs. Didn't Linus just put out a video covering this?

I wouldn't do it personally as there will be some bottlenecking and would rather have a better gpu than cpu but either way the money could be much better spent building a balanced system. The 1050ti would probably be the most sensible matched pair for it.

What resolution do you plan to play at? if its just 1080p then a 1050ti or 1060 if you can afford, that way you can run high/ultra settings.

What is the best combo for 1080p60 gaming you would recommend? I don't stream or render videos. Must be significantly better than an a10-5750m apu.

I did my Ryzen 3 review thread/vid using a 1080, and I have a 1050 ti in that rig now (Built for my wife) and anything over a 1060 or 580 will be bottlenecked.

I wouldn't do the 1080 unless OP is willing and able to upgrade the CPU later.

so what you're saying is I should buy a socket 478 P4 and pair it with my GTX 1080 ti? xD

hilariously, some socket 478 motherboards actually had PCIe 1.0 slots, so that in theory would work.

Image result for socket 478 motherboard with PCIe

I would add to this make sure you choose a motherboard with an upgrade path because at least then you could simply upgrade your CPU to a more powerful one. This is why I have started to recommend the athlon X4 950 over the pentium G4560 because you can go all the way from that thing to an 8-core processor. That would be the equivalent of going from a Pentium G4560 all the way to an i7 6900K on an intel platform.

yes you should

then focus on getting any modern cpu xD

none of my 478 motherboards had PCIe, only AGP, but all my 775 motherboards have PCIe.

I currently have an amd a10-5750m. I want something that has a lot less cooling problems and can play both Endless Sky and LoL at their highest settings.

But that's my point. Then you will have to ditch your motherboard, CPU and RAM and possibly even buy another copy of windows. Since it is much easier to do CPU swaps than pull out a board, CPU, RAM and reinstall windows, I always try to jump for a board with a nice upgrade path (hence why I like HEDT platforms). You also won't have to buy another board and RAM to go with your new CPU because it is compatible already.

isn't that what most people do..?

as mentioned already, depending on your affordability, gtx 1050ti or 1060 both should go well with ryzen 3, above that will be bottlenecked.
