CPU swap , BSODS ensue.

Hello. So, I've bought parts for a new pc, all was well, but the 7700k i got was both very hot ( 1.240 volts @ 4.7ghz getting to 80 degrees in games , using an AIO watercooler riing 3.0 rgb 240 ) , and a pretty bad overclocker ( couldn't even get it to 4.9 stable without a voltage that would give 100 degrees in cinebench ). Because the website i've used to buy my parts has a 30-day return policy no questions asked , I decided to send it back and hopefully get a better pick , so I stuck my old 6700k in the rig until my new 7700k arrives. Well , bsod after bsod. Either Driver_irql_not_less_or_equal or Driver_overran_stack_buffer . I am running windows 10. I would try not to do a fresh install of windows since i'd have to back up quite some data , but getting a bsod even 5 minutes into a game is bull.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1.  Why are you afraid of 80c temps?

2.  Why would you expect to overclock much higher than 4.7GHz that without delidding using a 240mm AIO?

3.  Clearing cmos may fix your problem.

4.  If problem persists after clearing cmos, reinstalling windows will almost certainly fix your problem.

5.  This is probably Karma for sending back a perfectly adequate chip.

1. 80 in games seems quite a lot for a 4.7ghz . My 6700k clocked at 4.7 stays around 65-68 .

2. Well , it really is a pretty bad overclocker , it can't even stay stable at 4.8 1.32V , let alone the 90+ temps.

Will try the cmos , thanks for the help.

Also , for the guy above , i just had a free budget range to work with and i suspected the old mobo to have some problems , so if i changed the mobo i went for a new proc too. Tbh , i kinda regret not going with 1800x or even threadripper , but i saw it's weaker than intel in games and i barely do work related stuff on my pc , that's for the laptop.
