Hi! I just sacrificed my RX 480, sold it for $340.

I live in Mexico, most of the prices suck.

My current system: i5 4570, 8GB DDR3 RAM, Cooler Master 550w 80+Gold VS Semi Modular PSU

Monitor: IPS 1080p 60hz

My options came down to this:

New GTX 1080 G1 Gaming for $530-540 (RX 480 money +$190-200 investment)

Used GTX 980Ti Xtreme Gaming, no box or warranty for $370 (RX 480 money +$30 investment)

New GTX 1070 Zotac mini for $430 (available until October 7)

Maybe I will upgrade to 1080p/144hz later, i'm not sure yet since I really like IPS monitors.

What do you think it's the best choice? I mainly play CSGO, Overwatch, and some demanding games now and then.

Emm, no? Just a few states have issues atm (specially Puebla since 2 days ago suffered an 8.1 earthquake) and the common coast states with the hurricanes, afaik U.S.A. is having a much harder time.

But in my state everything is fine, all services are up and running.

The lack of warranty/box sucks, but I'd rather get the GTX 980Ti out of the three options you've listed.

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

You will enjoy the stress -free mind space of getting a new card, whatever it is, if anything faults you can get a replacement and/or help. With a used, you are fucked in every way unless it works perfectly and 1/3 times with my GPU cards something has gone wrong... Thankfully amazon whip out a replacement in under a day.

You will be more happy buying a brand new card with warranty. With used cards, you have no idea whether warranty is active still? is warranty transferrable? how did the previous owner use the card? how long did he have it for actually instead of what he /she tells you?

imo if you ask me, i will always say buy brand new, peace of mind, your warranty, your own, any problem you can take it back to retail [eg RMA due to hardware defects]... whereas with a used one you could potentially be screwed [the possibility IS there]. and is something i wish you don't have to go through... so yea, do the former, buy brand new, use it for a solid 5-7 years, warranty will expire eventually after so long but you have that peace of mind at least when throwing your hard cash for a dedicated graphics card.

as for monitors, they do have a few 1440p 144/165hz gsync ips monitors [namely asus acer and viewsonic at 900-1089aud]. not too sure about freesync variants since i run a duo asus 1080ti/asus pg279q setup [if u need to save some $$ or gsync isn't a priority].
