1080? or 1080ti?

Shinchuu
Go to solution Solved by xsimplyjosh,

also you didn't specify what kind of games do you play... so most people will have struggles speaking or trying to recommend the most optimal solution but i can possibly speak from a 1080ti perspective since i own that card and game at 1440p 120~165hz w/ max settings. [if that's what you're looking for]

also what 1440p monitor do you have? standard 60Hz? or 144-165Hz high frame rates? or one or the other...

without much detail again, most people wouldn't be able to go into detail prior to giving a solution, you need to specify these two. i was just assuming you are gaming at 1440p at high frame rates, hence the top two card choices

ive been wondering im only playing games and streaming from time to time..

should i get a 1080 evga Classified edition? it costs 600$ or 1080to ftw3 hybrid gaming for 850$..

if i take the 1080 ill get the card asap if 1080ti ill have to wait a lil while..

Do you really need that water cooler? I'd buy a cheaper air cooled 1080ti instead.

It depends on the games, resolution and settings.

Both cards you've picked (the Classy and the Hybrid) are the more expensive options for each GPU. You could get a much cheaper variant that will perform just as well.

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

Unless you plan on OCing that card into oblivion, just get an air cooler. You usually can hit similar OCs and they cost much less.

I prefer th 1080ti. The performance difference between it and the 1080 is significant enough to justify the price. Get a Strix or FTW ICX variant though. It's like $100 cheaper and has virtually the same performance.

Why do you want the hybrid version of the 1080ti?

Just take a normal 1080ti ´cause it´s cheaper and the performance difference is not that significant.

for the looks :3

So as you want those specific cards primarily because of their looks, and i suppose you like both cards equally, i would take the 1080 evga classified edition because it´s just way better in terms of value for money.

Best site for cheap games! :)

I hear rumors that nivida is going to drop the 2080 by Christmas. I am currently waiting on seeing the next 3 months is going to look like with the new 300 series chipset and possibility of cannon lake early next year. They are not going say anything till its ready to come out so they keep selling this generation.

Rumours are fake. Nvidia has announced that they delayed Volta already.

I really don't think anything they say when it come to dates is accurate. Its all really Flip floppy. only thing that is some what reliable is specs.

given the amd offerings can't even touch "the king" i dont think nvidia will release new graphics so quickly it wouldn't make sense, the 1080ti is only 6 months old from announcement, even the CEO did say something about it in a financial report hearings. Go and google it up, it's there.

[on topic]

that being said most 1080ti's are limited by Pascal voltage wise even I feel the sliders don't do much for me so i'm kinda limited. Using the card out of the box I'm just near 2000MHz without tweaking anything [GPU Boost 3.0 included] on a strix 1080ti oc edition... i could probably add another 60MHz and anymore than that becomes unstable with not much frame gain [maybe 2 or 3?]... BUT...I'm really happy with it's performance even without doing any tweaks, factory oc'ed out of the box its a solid 125-165Hz performer at 1440p widescreen in most games i play at maxed out settings... Gpu temps alone never passed 67*c from what I've seen and that's quite amazing already, for an air-cooler variant, fan profile default* [no tweaks also]

i'd bank on either EVGA FTW3 1080ti , or the one i'm using [strix 1080Ti [non oc or OC whichever one works fine]... save the $$... i would placee better favor in 3 fan designs imo even tho the 2 fan designs are abit cheaper, thge difference isn't vast.
