DO DisplayPort versions actually matters?

I got an Asus vg248qe, i thought it came with a DP cable, now i just finished my build and it seems the monitor didn't came with one, so i'm looking to buy one.

So do i need to look specifically for a 1.4 one or i can grab whatever i find in amazon?

You would think Ubisoft would support the Bulldozer based architectures more given their digging themed names like bulldozer, Piledriver, Steamroller and Excavator.

There is no such thing as a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. There's RBR (Reduced Bit-Rate) and HBR (High Bit-Rate) and that's it. RBR cables are very uncommon and typically used for specific purposes. Almost every cable you come across, unless specified that it is an RBR cable, will be an HBR cable which supports all current DisplayPort revisions.

EDIT: Technically, there's not even HBR cables, there's just standard and RBR. Standard cables support RBR, HBR and HBR2

there's cable standards to match the vareous protocol standards, my general recommendation is to buy one that claims on the box it does what you need it to do. if you buy one that does, and it doesnt work, you can return it under the banner of a faulty product.

because i know someone is gonna scream their pants off at me.. i'm not telling you to buy a $1000 cable because it claims to be superior. i'm telling you to look at the spec sheet, and buy the cheapest cable that doesnt look like it'll fall apart in a weeks time.
