Depends on what you are paying for. 120 mbps is a perfectly good upload speed. I would find your bill from your ISP and see what you are paying for. It sounds like you are on a fiber connection which is usually symmetrical. For instance I have a 1Gbps up/down connection for my fiber.

I found that I have symmetrical upload and download when using ethernet but not when using wifi, so this might depend on the router as well.

Yes it definitely will depend on your router. Plus there is what we call 'overhead' you will never really get 'full speed' , you'll always miss about 10% or maybe a little more depending on the caliber of your networking equipment.

Is this a showoff post?

Most companies don't even have these speeds upload and downloads. Sure the big ones as they afford the high price, but smaller ones, no way.

Most people dream for 30mbps DOWNLOAD.

If the internet is "slow" for you, then it is the website you are connected to that doesn't have as fast speeds as you, or is busy.

No its just I dont really understand internet speeds all too well and when i mention my internet speed to people i know they say. "Aw thats not very fast." And we pay quite a bit for it so i was concerned that i wasnt getting what i paid for.

Go to Speedtest and post the result here.

Well, what is your plan? If you paid for those speeds, then you are getting what you are paying for.

Wi-Fi is half-duplex. So there's going to be an imbalance between uploads and downloads.

Yes but why is there close to an 800 mbps diffrence it seems strange. Also on lan.

That's what you pay for then. It doesn't have to be the same, and upload speed is often far lower than download speed.

At the bottom you can see this is the fastest internet money can buy via cable in Quebec:

And here on the right, via fiber. Direct home fiber connection

Here are a graph showing an avg speed per province:

Well its supposed to be half of my download.

So let's just say your ISP advertises 500Mbps down and whatever up, yet you're getting 900Mbps down. And you're worried you're not getting the internet speed you're paying for because people think it's slow?

I don't think I've found a better time to drop the phrase "first world problem" than now.

See i ment the upload is supposed to be half of the download but apparently on their site it is not even though I was told otherwise.

Well, give them a call and ask why that is.
