is my hdd dead?

jenia1

hello!

my external hdd(well internel with a dock that connects via usb). accidentally disconnected during format.

and now disk  manager(or any other program) can't see it. in the device manager i get the next message(in the photo that i added)

tried to reinstall driver and tried to access from  two different computers, same thing.

it sounds ok (spinning without any disturbing sound).

is it time to say goodbye?

all my pcs at home are laptops so that will take some time(and not the easy once with the hdd available in the back).

i tried to mount another hdd to make sure that the mount itself is ok.

do you still think that connecting thru sata will help?

it's worth a shot as the computer can't figure out the usb device doesn't mean the drive itself is not working.

How about choosing MBR? A disk that is bigger than 2TB should be initialized to GPT.

The OP has already tried choosing MBR (the last picture in the previous post states that).

I'm no expert, but considering the message that you got when you tried to initialize it as GPT it's likely that data relating to the actual capacity of the drive might be borked and you'll have to use some third party software like seatools to fix it (although you should wait for a more experienced person to give a better diagnosis and solution unless I've about hit the mark).
