R7950 Large bars over display

Hi,

 

System running, display went. On restart, no display out of HDMI port, display looks like (attached) out of DP, can only boot into safe mode in windows. 

 

Cable/Monitor works fine with onboard graphics. Tried reseating in PCIe, has been running fine for 4 years, unlikely to have overheated.

 

Any chance of saving it or is it finally dead?

Looks pretty dead unfortunately

 

Could try creating a custom BIOS that sets core/mem at a lower frequency and flashing it, but no guarantees

It looks like the GPU has died.

Artifacts so either dead or overclocks are bad. Mostly dead

check with another monitor first, they look too regular with vertical lines. In the case of GPU just underclock vram first.

Considering the OP is only able to get into Safe Mode, and the display just stopped working, it's not likely the monitor.
