Going to go pick up some parts tomorrow for a HTPC/gaming pc overhaul and i chose:
Asrock AB350 Pro ATX
R3 1200
2x4gb kit of Kingston Fury @2400mhz (HX424C15FBK2/8)
Just want some approval that all this gear will work together (Ram is really my only concern of compatibility but ive been told any 2400mhz will work)
Cheers

I'd personally wait for Coffee Lake 4c/4t i3's incoming, your main issue here is only the low frequency ram, you need 3000mhz or higher to break the Infinity Fabric limitations.

It is not a bad build but I really advise in waiting another week to compare to Coffee Lake before purchasing and if you do go with Ryzen to try considering a higher single stick frequency memory as dual channel changes nothing making 2x4gb sticks rather pointless and future-limiting.

cbf waiting if im honest n besides ive always been a little behind on new gen stuff. wait to see how big a flop they are.
i was told dual channel was a massive improvement with ryzen. i can afford a 3000mhz stick for the same price as the 2x4gb kingston kit i just didnt think it would be as good since everyones like "nah nah gotta be fuckin dual channel"

You're luck there are no active mods right now, otherwise you'd be getting slapped with a warning right now

Ryzen definitely performs better with higher speed ram, 3200 being the greatest performer, and also allows for better OC. On intel it doesnt matter

well shit. i cant really get ram that speed theres a chance my local store might have some 3000mhz ram in tommorow they might not then ill just have to go with the 2400

I've used the mATX version of your board and it has zero issues with any RAM that we've put in it with the 3.0 ver of the UEFI. Unfortunately we've had to use different sets because we received defective memory the first time but that's another issue. The two sets we used were (defective but one DIMM worked) 2*8 GB Team Dark 3000 MHz 16 CAS memory and 2*8 GB G.Skill Ripjaws V 3000 MHz 15 CAS memory. Both worked without a hitch.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

2400 will still be solid in terms of performance, but Ryzen really scales with faster RAM. So if you plan on overclocking, you might not hit higher frequencies and be stable

Ryzen is really good overall and is a great platform. Had some major bugs when it first came out but for the most part theyre all fixed and users have found great success on the platform.

(Video is of ryzen 5 but the procces is the same)

thinking about it now the cpu's performance right now wont realllllly matter because im pairing it with an absolute dog of a GTX card... the 550ti, truly a terrible card but its what i have on hand right now unless i pull the GTX 780 out of my main rig or put one of my water cooled gtx 480's in it which are great cards but i cbf water cooling right now.

An R5 stock would be able to handle both of those cards without any issues

Yeah ik obviously but what im saying is theres no real need for me to overclock yet as the bottleneck will still be the GPU. Also im getting an r3 1200 not an r5

lol yeah
sidenote:
Thought you might want to know i got the system together yesterday working great so far running:
R3 1200

AB350 PRO 4
GTX 550ti (really bad for this build but like i said all i got spare)
Kingston Hyper X 2400 black. i could get another brand $10 cheaper but it was red and i hate red so i payed the extra to have a black n white build.
