I would highly suggest looking at that AOC monitor.

Not sure what magic AOC is using but it supports G-Sync, FreeSync, and is 1440p at 144Hz. It's perfect for a 1080Ti :)

That AOC monitor supports Freesync (Adaptive Sync). I guess pcpartpicker have the description wrong.

i7 8700k it is, wait another week for it, the 4790k is awesome on its own right so it's still hard justifying replacing it.

The OP already has an i7? The 4790K is still a very good CPU.

^This

Unless Intel makes the 8700K something really special, or I find myself needing more than 4C/8T because I'm going to start streaming, I (personally) wont upgrade the CPU for another year or two.

Ah, someone must have selected wrong or something when adding it.

Ignore that monitor then :)

Honestly with your rig, your bottleneck is only the monitor, as @PCGuy_5960 stated if you get a 2560x1440p monitor or allow me suggest 29 inchs 2560x1080p ultrawide as well, you'll probably not need to upgrade any thing the 4790k can still keep up with the 1080ti at high resolutions, your gaming experience isn't good solely because your monitor is bad, I used to have 22inch LG 1680x1050p60hz myself before I upgraded to my LG 29UM68-P 2560x1080p80hz and the difference was huge.
