I recently got an Intel Core i7-7700k. My friend had some extra parts and gave me a Gigabyte GA-H110M-A and an 8GB stick of 2400 MHz DDR4 Ram. I ran Passmark and was disappointed when I saw the multi-threaded score of 8000 and a single-threaded score of about 2000. The multi-threaded score concerns me, as the non-k 7700 hits scores of around 10000. Would this performance drop have to do with the Intel H110 chipset? Possible solutions to increase my performance?

Specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H110M-A

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700k with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 1x8GB DDR4 2400 MHz

PSU: 500w VisionTek PSU

Specs:

 Gaming PC: i5 3570, 16GB 1600MHz, GTX 780 3GB, Transcend 128GB, WD 500GB, Seagate 500GB, Thermaltake 600W Smart, S340 w/ RGB, Windows 10 Pro

 Server: Xeon E5 2650, 12GB 1600MHz ECC, 8400GS, WD 2TB + 1TB + 1TB, EVGA 500B 500W, Windows 10 Pro

 Laptop: Macbook Pro Retina 2013, i7 4558U, 8GB 1600MHz, Intel Iris Pro 1.5GB, Apple 256GB NVME, Mojave

 Internet: $70/month For 500/100, Actually get 525/102

Since its a quad core cpu, wouldnt it make sense to have a single thread score of 2000 and a multi thread score of 8000?

That is actually false. Its single-threaded not multi-threaded. That CPU has 8 threads. even then, the number just states how well it performs under single and multi threaded tasks. Single threaded only use one thread as much as it can. Multi-threaded tasks try to evenly distribute across all 8. Since they are different you cant just multiply the single threaded by 8.

You'll need to check the following:

1. What speed is the CPU running at?

2. Do you have any power saving features enabled in Windows? Set to Balanced or high Performance mode.

3. You're running one 8GB stick of memory. Single channel mode at only 2400mhz.

To put this into perspective, here are my passmark results, overclocked to 4.8Ghz with Dual Channel 2x8gb Corsair 3200mhz.

Single Threaded: 2803

Final CPU score: 13560

Final Ram Score: 3691
