audio distortion problem

Every once in a while my mic does this thing where i sound like im trying to communicate from the dead via a microwave. I can usually fix this for an hour or so by unplugging my audio interface and reconnecting to my discord server. It always comes back within a few hours. It sometimes fixes itself very quickly before i can do anything. any ideas whats up?

Heres my set up.

i5 6400

ASUS H170 PLUS D3 MOBO

Kingston HyperX Fury 16gb 2x8gb 1866mhz cl10

evga 1070 ftw

samsung 850 evo 500gb ssd

Windows 10 64 bit

AT2020 XLR microphone

Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2nd Gen

using focusrite-usb-asio-driver-4-15 provided from their site.

Any and all help is much appreciated

I know unplugging the USB and plugging it back in always works. Where is it plugged into right now?

plugged in to 1 of 2 usb 3 headers at the top of my phanteks p400s. the other port works with thumb drives and things but doesn't power my interface or hubs.

I wouldn't plug it in to the front panel of your case (power draw issues with the Scarlett) try plugging it into the back of the motherboard and see if the problem persists.

Try this beta driver:

And also disable NVIDIA HD Audio in your playback/recording audio devices.
