Why did you have to buy the liquid master?

Why did you have to buy the liquid master?

The Cooling performance is just so much better and the 240 rad just dissipates heat better than a 120 surface tower even in push pull.
Temps are overall lower and my fans have to do less work so it is quieter, for a price tag of 75 euros.
Also with AS 5 paste that has a little cure time my temps were far better and i can try to OC to 4 ghz if not i will probably be at 3.9ghz.
Something not possible with a 212 EVO even when the cooling liquid is saturated with heat.

Mind that a 240 rad does better than a 120 rad even if you push pull it, larger surface for heat to be vented.
A 120 rad will do slightly better than a 212 EVO, tower wise you be looking at a 90-100 euro price tag for similar performance on a tower with push pull fans like the Noctua;s.

Okay thanks. I refuse to water cool since I'm not up for that risk. I think I'm gonna stick with what I know and get a 212X. I've had no issue with Cooler Master before and I quite like the look.

@Shiv78 Noise isn't going to be a huge concern since it'll be in a tower under my desk and I use headphones a lot and if I decide I'd like to get something quieter I much prefer the look of some of BeQuiet's cheaper coolers. Also - pro tip - Shouting at people to stop considering a product and just buy what you think is best is not a great way to win an argument.

That is fine by all means and both products are from Cooler Master and are solid whatever you pick.

I know that the stock cooler is good - for a stock cooler. The bottom line is I don't want another AMD Furnace/Jet Engine under my desk and 90 degrees when overclocked is not on.

Most people agree the 212 is the best budget cooler and what I'm asking is are they wrong? I don't mind the look and I've had no issue with my CM Hyper 103.

xD what are you talking about?  90c?? My 1700 OC'd to 3.6ghz in a case with garbage airflow never went higher then 75c

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

saying you will buy something you want to "stick with what you know" instead of considering a superior product that is also cheaper and has a better warranty is not even worth arguing about.

Fair point but if the Cryorig one is so good then why is the 212 line the most popular budget cooler line? What I mean is that I've never used a Cryorig product and until they were mentioned here I'd never even heard of them. I've used Cooler Master products before and I trust them. In fact - most people building budget rigs seem to trust CM products.

The same CPU at the same speed with a 212 EVO was about 20 degrees cooler. A temp I'm way more comfortable with.

Reason for that is cryorig is a younger brand.  The 212 has been around for so long it's universally known but it's more than a bit dated now.

Simply because CM is an older company (and the 212 an older product) that gets overhyped and recommended WAY too much.

Same reason people buy flagship phones from Samsung/Apple/LG etc. instead of budget phones with equivalent/superior specs...

Any Cryorig for that matter I did like the 212 EVO just did not cool as well as I hoped.

The R1 series is amazing, similar to high-end Noctuas without the ugly.

Since I've now seen conflicting reports about the Wraith Spire. I've decided to wait till I get the 1600 and try it with the Spire with the OC. If I'm uncomfortable with the temps I will then most likely get either a 212X or look at some of the larger Cryorig ones or cheaper BeQuiet coolers.

Makes sense. A cryorig h5 is a good mid-range option and the r1 a good high end, while the guys is good I wouldn't recommend it too much because it's In between the m9 and h5 without being too much better than the m9.

Unless pricing changes I probably won't be getting the h5. I'm aiming to spend around £30 and the cheapest I've found it is at £45. Too much considering the rest of my upgrade. The 212X is more in line with my budget as far as me liking the look. IMO the m9a looks a bit weird with the black plastic top. Kinda like they're trying too hard to make it look more premium. The 212 line is kinda unapologetically simple. That and the clip system is just so much better. Won't rule Cryorig out though - just the m9a. Maybe get something in the January sales and I'll look at some BeQuiet stuff too.
