HDR content can still look great even on a non-HDR screen, see: https://linustechtips.com/main/profile/359972-myurizaki/?status=172263&type=status If you want faster refresh rates, it'd be better to get a fast refresh rate monitor now. If you want visual quality, then I can defer to the list they have at http://www.pcgamer.com/what-hdr-means-for-pc-gaming/ I have a blog! Otherwise you're just getting a high-resolution-color monitor. Dolby Vision for instance recommends that you master the content for 4,000 nits. As it stands, very few displays even come close to half that. Although I had a look at that Dell monitor and it's well within your price budget: http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/210-amlm EDIT: (wrong monitor, stupid names) EDIT 2: http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-ultrasharp-27-4k-hdr-monitor-up2718q/apd/210-amvp/monitors-monitor-accessories There it is, it's $1550.
