Hey guys,

 

I'm looking to upgrade. Have been for awhile.

I just need input on an idea I'm throwing around. 

 

Upgrade from a i5 4670k @ 4.3ghz -------------------------> i7 7700k
                          Maximus VI hero ---------------------------> ROG Strix Z270E
                      16gb 2400mhz Corsair Vengeance -------> 16gb TridentZ 3000mhz RGB

I do mostly gaming(I play anything), but been throwing around the idea to start streaming and doing video content

What is your total budget?

If you stream, then a Ryzen CPU is nearly mandatory to prevent significant frame drops. A 7700k can't handle games and streaming at once very well since it only has 4 cores.

 

Even if you still prefer a 7700k, might as well get a 4770k/4790k. They aren't that much slower, but can save you a significant bit of money for something else.

Why the 7700K? The difference in performance between it and the 4790K isn't that big. Getting that one instead would save a lot of money, and not a lot of performance. 

A Ryzen 1700 would be a better CPU for streaming and content creation, and imo a more sensible upgrade

I get that, the 7700k just price droped to 400$ *canadian from 480$. 

Also, trying to find a 4790k is pointless, best I could find were people selling it for around 350$ CAD,

The bulk of the cost savings would be reusing the motherboard and RAM. 

 

The 1700 is cheaper than the 7700K, so why not that one?
