Upgrade to S8+?

I currently have the standard s7 which is 17 months old and my contract is expiring in next march and I am debating which phone to get. I wonder if I should keep my s7 next contract or go for a new phone. My battery on my current s7 is terrible (Charge Twice a day with light usage, even optimized) and I am not sure if the s8+ has better battery life. What do you think I should do? Keep the s7, go for s8, or go for s8 plus?

S8. Seems to be the perfect size, from the couple times I've got to hold one. Or an iPhone 7/7+.

Then get the 8, since it should have a bigger screen. Looks like they're killing off my friend the home button....

not a huge deal TBH. I adjusted rather quickly, and software ones seem more useful now.

If the software is so broken that it cant show the software buttons then it wont recognize a hardware one either and a reset will be necessary.

Yeah, and on iPhone, the usual way is to hold down the home and power buttons. Now it's hold down the power and a volume button or something. I'll probs still get one when my iPhone 6 Plus finally breaks (dropped it for the zillionth time at the Post Office, it slid out of my hand, bashed a corner, and then I kicked it -since I was walking at the time- and bounced it off a curb and then it slid back to me, face down. Screen protector saved the screen, and I just bent the corner back with pliers so the screen would sit flush).

ouch. TBH its no big deal having software buttons. Thats how my V20 has a bigger screen than the 7+ yet is smaller

Yup. I like the aspect ratio on some 'droids as well. My brother has an S6, and the screen is a bit smaller, but wider, than my Plus. Fits in the hand really well, and is the perfect compromise of screen space + phone size. I keep my iPhone in just a Dbrand skin, since it's too big in any case.

Yeah, the 7+ is too big a phone for me to use well, and it has a 5.5 inch screen, but the V20 has a 5.7 inch screen and its fine.

Are you talking about upgrading now, or when your contract expires?

 

If you're talking about now, I'd keep the S7 if you cant find a way to get the battery replaced by a repair shop. You can find the battery on amazon. I tried to do that with my HTC one M9 but the way my phone was put together there was no way to take it apart without breaking it. OR, use a battery bank to last the seven months while oyu wait. OR, get a refurbished S5/S6 (I actually went this route, wasn't too bad)

 

If you're referring to getting it at the end of march, I'd suggest seeing if they come out with the S9 or the Google Pixel 2
