Best budget cpu??

So I am looking for a under $150 (usd) cpu that is stock or can be overclocked to 4 ghz or higher and  has 4 or more cores. Along with a fairly inexpensive mono and ram costs. Any ideas?

R3 1200, it can be overclocked like all of the other Ryzen CPU'S but is a 4 core and 4 thread CPU unfortunately at your price point you can't get any higher.

The only CPUs that fit that criteria are FXs and an A10. Don't get those. I don't know much about CPUs nowadays but I would suggest the Ryzen 3 or

You gotta look at IPC and Manufacturing process on the cpu die it self to able to judge about a Hertz base in the first place

Wha-? Don't get me wrong, the g4620 is a great CPU but the OP asked for a quad core. When there's something that fits everything the op asked for I'll recommend that.

Don't get me wrong either, it still is a 4 threads CPU and it would fit the very limited budget OP has, and some people (unfortunately) only buys Intel... I was just sayin' really, I also think that the r3 1200 OC'ed on a b350 is the best course of action.

Don't base your CPU buying criteria on frequency (unless you're directly comparing two chips with identical architecture). I can show you many CPUs that don't even reach 3Ghz that will destroy other CPUs at 5+Ghz.

 

I agree with people suggesting Ryzen 3. Seems like the best option in your price range. If you're willing to save up a bit more the low-tier R5 is a great step up and gives you 8 threads rather than 4.
