Ryzen 7, choose the 1700 and OC it. Like Septimus said, all Ryzen 7 preform roughly the same when overclocked.

To elaborate on @nerdslayer1's response, the Ryzen 1700 is able to perform just as well as an 1800X if it is overclocked. They are the same chip (to my understanding), except with different clock speeds. Save some money and get better value and performance by getting the Ryzen 1700.

So, taking this into account, from a standard MSRP line, the R7 1700 is better to get, however, a 1700X is available at a discounted price which equals that of the 1700's MSRP, the 1700 is not available at this lower price due to stock shortage at the current time. If it was, it would be around 30 GBP cheaper. So, I will be choosing the 1700X, for a higher clock speed, and same price to a lower clocked chip.

To back myself up here, Linus even talked about the importance of clock speed in things like video encoding and potentially streaming, so the higher performance at a similar price is enough to dictate this option.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Hi.

I want to get a new system to start streaming, however I am torn between 3 processors. Which one is the best for streaming? (I choose these 3 because they're available at discounted prices, if you want to recommend x99 or x299, go ahead)

CPU #1: i7-7700k

CPU #2: R7 1700X

CPU #3: R7 1800X

For reference, I will be using 16GB of RAM, and a GTX 1070.

Thanks in advance.

just remember the 1700 comes with a stock cooler where as the 1700x does not so you will need and aftermarket cooler if you get the 1700x.

Thanks for the heads up.

I want to go for an AIO, which one should I get that is reasonably priced?

probably something like this https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/CrDzK8/corsair-cpu-cooler-cw9060025ww I'm not sure if it comes with the required brackets for am4 so you may need to order some from corsair. if you want something cheaper i would get an am4 nactua cpu cooler like this https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/shNypg/noctua-nh-d15-se-am4-1402-cfm-cpu-cooler-nh-d15-se-am4

R7 1700. You can OC the 1700 to match the 1800X in performance. Your Welcome.
