Changing cpu

Hello

I need a bit of help

I want to upgrade my cpu from an i5 6402p to an i7 6700k

I just wanted to know if i could just take the old one out and put the new one in plug and play style just like changing a graphics card or if i would have to do things like reinstall drivers or OS or something else.

I have an Asus h110m Motherboard and it's Lga 1151

I am not sure if its tha case with Asus h110m but:

 

Some Intel H110 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaby Lake-S CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

you should be fine. although I should note that the switching gpus being plug and play style is incorrect but I guess that doesn't really have much to do with your upgrade but rather for future reference.

Just ordered my new 6700K and a new TX3 EVO aircooler to replace my stock cooler.

Just installed it. Running great.

The new cooler was broken though so im currently running it with the stock cooler xD.

I know it isn't the greatest solution but it's only temporary.

Seems to be working fine when gaming though.
