TX650 Good Deal?

Grape Guild

Hey guys, I have a quick question.

So, the holidays are coming around, and one of my good friends is fairly new to PC's and wants to build one.  Me and all my other friends are pooling our money and buying him a few components.

I recently found this deal on Amazon for their "Black Friday Promotion!!!".  It's a Corsair TX650 Power Supply for $70.  I'm not much of a corsair guy, but this unit is listed as a very solid piece on EggXpert's Tiered Power Supply list.  Is $70 a good price for this unit?  Any advice helps!

Here's the deal: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Enthusiast-Certified-Compatible-platforms/dp/B004LB5AZY/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1385692678&sr=1-2&keywords=tx+650m

No, unless you are on a tight budget you should get a better power supply.

Sorry?

650W doesn't leave a lot of room for future expansion,, if there's any possibility of going to multi-GPU setups you're better off going a bit bigger than that..

I've had a TX650 running for about 2(?) years now without any issues at all, so it's at least reliable and well built..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

Look for an xfx pro 650w bronze, the price should be around the same.

Thanks! I'll look that up right now.

I would go with this PSU. Its 650W, 80+ gold, and fully modular. To top it all off, it's $55 right now after a mail in rebate.

I have the same one. just for my work computer until my personal rig is done (did someone say build log coming soon-ish?)

overall its a great psu. I got it a little cheaper on ebay though. I wouldnt spend more than $80 on something that's non-modular.

Just look around.

look at pcpartpicker, itll tell you usually where to find it the cheapest
