Should I get intel or work my arse off for ryzen?

Ricardo56

Just found an ad for a 6600, gtx 970 palit jetstream, b150 msi mobo and 8 gb of RAM for 440 eur. After doing some calculating I would save about... 300 eur which is almost the price of the graphics card, if I were to buy everything new.

I was just wondering, shouid I really give up 4 threads and overclocking (not too worried about the latter), get this and then eventually replace the mobo and cpu or just stick to intel until I actually need an upgrade?

Also is this card's cooler even good? lol

Blower cards tend to be a bit louder, but that's a nice bang for the buck on that rig.

That MOBO can take an 8 thread I7 if you are worried about upgrading later.  It just won't overclock.

It's a pretty good deal for all that.  1080P crusher.

i would say 4 cores right now isnt a good choice if you plan on keeping it for a while

I don't do much tbh, and playing on my brother's pc is still fine (4590 w/ 1060 6gb i think) so I don't feel the need for more than 4 cores. Hyperthreading would be nice tho :P

Probably but I haven't confirmed. Just a hunch

And don't worry, I'll benchmark before buying ;)

I would say it is. the cheapest GTX 1050Ti in Portugal is currently 165€, and that GTX 970 beats the 1050Ti by far.

I was thinking of waiting until rx Vega to get even cheaper used cards but it doesn't get much better, does it? .-.
