as a home server yes, it does unofficially support ECC, but for a business I would stick to Epyc unless you REALLY need higher single core performance with a decent amount of cores.

 

also the server boards will have some nice features a x399 will not have like IPMI and remote management. extra encryption support, ect.

It's probably a better work station cpu than a server cpu
