Important laptop desktop choice

Hey guys and girls, I am in need of a laptop for a game development college program. I currently own a desktop rig (intel core i5 4690k, asus strix 970, 16gb of ram, 240gb ssd + 1 tb hdd), and am wondering if I should go get a newer speced laptop or ainply upgrade my rig and get some cheaper laptop instead. Thoughts?
