Help. Lended my PC and now its broken

So recently I lended my PC to a friend and he returns it to me in a seemingly good state so I go to boot it up and zilch

As in my computer doesn't do anything when I turn it on. The gpu is plugged into the monitor

 

 

While writing my post I contacted him finally and turns out he redirected my program files from C to F drive 

 

Any clues please I'm not in a financial state to re buy most of my stuff

Do you have another computer? Any old or weak laptop will do. Or something powerful.

Try and ask him for the hard drive he used, and then move back your program files.

plug drive into another computer, back up all the important shit and reinstall windows

Go there, get the installation tool, get a USB, make the installation media to the USB, plug USB into desktop once it's done, select to boot from USB, follow instructions.

 

 

BTW keep your files or else they will be deleted.

I already had one. I'll update with the results

What about unpluging a drive prior to installation

That drive will not be affected then. That's what I do just to be safe. of course, and data on that drive that relies on data from the other drive is fucked. but documents should be fine.

I'm prompted for the type of installation I want. Which do I choose? Upgrade and keeps setting and files or Custom Windows only install?
