So I'm slowly squirreling away the dough for a 1800x on a hero VI board and 1080ti system. However with the release of the "Threadripper" stuff on the horizon I find myself contemplating not buying until that releases. I'm sure the price point will be higher but without knowing when they will be released it'll give me time to add to my budget for the new chip and main board. Of course the possibility that higher memory speeds will be available is mouth watering.

So here's the question what would you do build the 1800x system and wait for ThreadRipper. Then sell the 1800x system and build the ThreadRipper. Or wait and just build the ThreadRipper system?

I personally wouldn't get threadripper because I have no purpose for all those threadz. I would just use the 1800x for three years.

Wait for the TR, keep saving since the motherboards can be as expensive as x299 and high end cooling system etc... 1800x would be great but you seem to have the means and which to go higher end.
