i5 6600k

i was just testing my i5 6600k score in cinebench, but i noticed that my speed while doing the benchmark is only 3,50ghz but when it is just idling it goes up to 3,75 ghz why is that?

Cinebench is using all of your cores, and i5 6600k will stay on 3,5GHz.

But when you are doing daily tasks, CPU will use turbo boost on 1 or 2 cores, and go higher than that.

Why don't you OC that CPU? If you are afraid, just put 4GHz on all cores ... that's something what every i5 6600k can handle.

Totally agree!

Depends on cooling though..

4GHz on i5 shouldn't be a problem for any aftermarket cooler.

Even stock cooler should handle that if you aks me.

cause cinebench uses all your cores, so it clocks down to that speed. however, when you're using less cores, the clock speeds go up.

Well i was waiting for my z270 mothetboard to arive, it just came in i installed it gonna update all the drivers and stuff and then im gonna look at overclocking. The board i had before this one was a msi b150 m3

Think you are forgetting how shit the Intel stock cooler is xD

Yeah it is, but it can still cool down those 70W that CPU is using. At least I hope so lol

Yeah when you OC it, it won't go below unless game isn't that demanding.

But if you don't OC your CPU, it will work that way. Those are it's stock settings. 3,5GHz on all cores or turbo boost for single core. That's how intel works.

Ah okay, that makes sense.

Should be pretty easy to OC Intel CPU. Just keep monitoring your temps, and don't go all crazy on voltage.

if you delid with liquid metal you can pull off good overclocks with the stock cooler without exceeding 75°C

im at a  4.4 ghz overlcock at 1.300 volts, highest temp i have seen is 75

but at idle my temps are jumping around 41c and then all of the sudden 50C for a split second and then going back to 41c, is this normal?

Yep, that's all normal.

Once you start OCing, you will see higher idle temps and some spikes. But like I said, if you have temps under 85°C, there is no need to worry.
