Mic or Headset

tubajoe0

Currently using Sennheiser HD 598s that I have had now for several years (still in great shape, can't recommend these more!), but am getting more into online gaming, so I will need to get something so I can actually talk to teammates/friends.  Would getting a second actual gaming headset be worth it or should I just get a mic?  In either case, any recommendations based on my usual audio quality?

Buy V-Moda BoomPro and call it a day.

Good enough mic that turns your 598 into headset.

Less wire clutter and no need for mounting mic with adhesive, and only a minor loss in audio quality, compared to Modmic.

Tell me, how do you fit the BoomPro into HD598?

Unless you want to mod a V-MODA BoomPro into the headphone, you can use an Antlion ModMic or wait for Massdrop Minimic to become available.

Mic.

Either any cheap mic to clip on your headphone or shirt or anything, and be done with a few dollars, or

you invest into a Modmic.

Cheaper than a headset, MUCH better audioquality than most gaming headsets on the market <200 dollar, and better mic quality than the trash, most gaming companies build into their headsets.

Getting a Headset would be a huge step backwards in terms of quality.

Just a step forward in terms of how convenient it is not having to play around with modmic, second cable etc.

Thanks for the help folks!  I'll definitely just be getting a regular mic at some point, but I'll be using WO Mic (Android app) until I get it ordered and delivered.
