How to mine Litecoin! (explaind the easy way)

Before you start:

- I'm not responsible for anything you break by doing this.

- Get a fire extinguisher close to you your gpu will burn. (80°C + is normal)

- Don't even think about doing this on a Nvidia gpu or your cpu. (team red ftw)

So lets start this will take around 5 to 10 minutes to set up.

1. Setup your pool(s).

( I will use coinotron.com in this topic.)

1.2. Make an account on coinotron.

1.3. Login.

1.4. Go to My Account.

1.5. Make a worker. (just under the add worker thing)

1.6. Type ltc in the first square, a password in the second square.

1.7. select ltc and select round based pay per share.

1.8. click add

2. Search for script-mining software.

( I will use guiminer in this topic)

2.1. Download the latest version.

2.2. Create a folder somewhere and extract it in there.

2.3. Start the guiminer application.

2.4. Click File -> New miner -> New CG miner.

2.5. Type "coinotron.com" in the host square.

2.6. Type "3334" in the port square.

2.7. Type "the username.ltc" in the username square.

2.8. Type "the password" in the password square.

2.9. Select your gpu in the device square.

2.10. Select your gpu in the GPU Defaults square.

2.11. Click start

3. Trading for $, €, BTC, ...

( I will use BTC-e.com in this topic)

3.1. Make an account.

3.2. Login.

3.3. Go to finance.

3.4. Click the deposit button close to LTC

3.5. Scroll down and copy the code that looks likes this: LVn1SV9WYYfzUmpX8U69oTfcPGZMzi3vNr

3.6. Go back to coinotron.com and paste the code in the square behind LTC

3.7. Click the save button.

Now your done.

If you want to mine for me this is my worker name: vampirekid.ltc and this pw x.

Did i forget anything or you have a question just post it in here.

I didn't check my grammar so check it for me.

About the not doing it on nvidia's side, on this topic: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/80901-want-to-start-mining-but-dont-know-where-to-start/

@Oskarw90 says hes getting 470-570 k/hash on 1 780 oc'd.  I have 2, and with the calculator located at: https://www.litecoinpool.org/calc?hashrate=900&difficulty=1522.6087795&power=400&energycost=0.10&currency=USD

I can make around ~400-500$ a month depending on the prices.  So it's well worth it on nvidia's site.

It's pretty nice, i started off at 320 Kh/s but then used the -h 1 parameter in Cuda miner and jumped up to around 470

You need to use Cudaminer for Nvidia cards. It should be installed by default with guiminer, you can select it when you add a new worker.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Can you give me a snapshot of where I paste the code at?

I figured it out. But it says connecting on the lower right hand corner. Is it suppose to do that?

Here's what it looks like.

For some reason youtube video's play at something like 1fps when mining using my GPU, I play video's on my second monitor using my integrated graphics card.

And my entire PC becomes close to useless (5 seconds to just open a different tab).

VampireKid, I've gotten multiple BSODs while litecoin mining. My computer is killing itself when mining. Windows skips every few seconds or so when lite mining. I even got a BSoD when I wasn't doing anything... Thoughts? (Only mining on GPU like guide says) Also, whenever I lower the "intensity" I get no shares. Or maybe I just wasn't waiting long enough.

EDIT - Lowering intensity works, I was just being impatient.
