So we don't have cable now and my dad wants to get it.

Since my modem and the cable box both run on coax cables, does my isp allocate a certain amount of bandwidth to the cable and internet on the same line?

im just worried that if we get tv that our max internet speed that we got before will never be reached again.

Coax has a very wide frequency range capable to carrying all those signal without interfering or causing one to be limited in anyway.

No, the cable television signals won't degrade your internet speed. As long as you pay for the same speed as what you have now, you'll get that speed.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

They use different frequencies to deliver TV and Data. If you look at your modems status page, you would see X amount of Down Stream channels and X amount upstream channels. The picture below shows how its supposed to work. Theoretically Docsis 3.1 can give speeds up to 10Gbps down and 2 Gbps up. So you see there is lots of room.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
